All seat five comfortably with plenty of room for luggage under the hatch – offering the perfect balance of ride and handling for the long haul – GT style.

Here is what we know now about key performance elements:

Stinger

The base Stinger and Stinger Premium will be powered by 2.0L Twin Scroll Turbo 4-cylinder engines delivering 255 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (max 1,400 – 4,000 rpm) delivered through a Kia second-generation eight-speed rear-drive automatic transmission with paddle shifters.  Up to five shift patterns are available through its electronic throttle mapping Drive-Mode system that will enable Stinger to deliver 0-60 mph in 5.9-seconds.

Stinger models ride on P225/45R18 performance all-season tires with a passive suspension utilizing a MacPherson Strut front suspension and Multi Link (5-link) rear suspension with large diameter gas-filled shocks and aluminum stabilizer bar.

The Rack-mounted Motor Driven Power Steering has a constant steering ratio and 2.4 wheel turns lock to lock.  Braking is 4-Wheel Disc (vented front) and single piston with 12.6-inch disc front and 12.4-inch rear.

Stinger GT

The Stinger GT models ratchet up performance considerably starting under the hood with a 3.3L Twin Scroll V6 Lambda II engine that produces delivers 365 horsepower at 6,000 rpm with 376 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,350 to 4,500 rpm.

Equipped with the same transmission, paddle shifters and drive-mode system as the 2.0L turbo, but tuned for the V6, the GT delivers acceleration of 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.  Top speed for the V6 is a governed 167 mph.

Rear-drive GT models will have an available multi-plate limited slip differential to help evenly distribute power through the rear wheels and enhance directional stability during acceleration.

Performance handling is enhanced with a Dynamic Stability Damping Control system for the suspension enabling shock adjustment via the Drive Mode Selection feature. The Variable-Ratio Rack-mounted Motor Driven Power Steering system is just 2.2 turns lock to lock.

Stinger GT runs on staggered (225/40R19 front and 255//35R19 rear) Michelin Pilot Sport 4 ultra-high-performance tires designed to optimize Stinger GT performance.   High-Performance Brembo brakes are standard with quad-piston front and dual-piston rear calipers with discs 13.8-inch front and 13.4-inch rear.

All-wheel Drive (AWD) available

AWD will be available on Stinger.  It will feature a new Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system which monitors driver inputs and road conditions then automatically applies power and braking force to the appropriate wheels to maintain course in adverse conditions.  The system automatically distributes traction between the front and rear wheels, depending on driving conditions. Up to 50 percent of torque can be distributed to the front wheels and in Sport mode, up to 80 percent of the power can be routed to the rear wheels.

Advanced Technology & Convenience

Multiple Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) seamlessly work together to enhance the driving experience in Stinger

New is the Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system to help combat distracted or drowsy driving.  The system will sound a warning chime and display a graphic in the instrument binnacle that it’s time to take a break from driving if it senses the driver’s attention level has been significantly reduced.

Other elements include Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA) with Pedestrian Detection, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go that maintains distance from a vehicle in front and can bring the car to a full stop; Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW) with Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW).

The height-adjustable color Head-Up Display enables driver to monitor key driving information on the windshield glass including speed, turn-by-turn navigation, audio and cruise control settings and Blind Spot Detection information.  The center console contains a wireless Smartphone charging pad and the standard Bluetooth hands-free operation is accessible through the steering-wheel-mounted controls.
