Ford and Airstream recently asked us to take a weeklong Texas Adventure driving a 2018 Ford Expedition Limited Max, towing a new Airstream Tommy Bahama 19-foot Special Edition Trailer and camping out at KOA Campgrounds in Texas.

Island-style inspired Tommy Bahama 19-foot Airstream distinctive and comfortable everywhere
Airstream says that their Tommy Bahama beach-themed travel trailers are like having ‘Your own private island’. We think they are more than just an island on the beach. They are – for sure – your own private and uniquely comfortable place on beaches or at lakes, rivers, mountains and everywhere in-between.
We recently spent a Texas Adventure week in the new Tommy Bahama 19-foot Special Edition travel trailer camping at a lake in East Texas, on a beach along the Gulf and in Fredericksburg wine country to see how fun much we could have.
Turns out it was nearly too much fun and oh so easy.

Tommy Bahama 19-foot Special Edition
With travel trailers of all brands and sizes on our highways, it is Airstream, with its distinctive semi-monocoque aluminum riveted structure, that stands heads above the rest. The new Tommy Bahama 19-foot Special Edition is one of their latest and best.
A traditional looking Airstream, a couple of subtle exterior Tommy Bahama theme treatments tell you this Airstream is different. The bold themed wrap on the front Solar Screen along with a custom themed screen door offers just a hint of what you will find inside.
The Tommy Bahama interior décor package features an island-inspired palette of deep blue and emerald green and uses palm leaf patterns and pinstripes on premium fabrics and wood tone surfaces to carry out the theme.

Décor elements inside include cushioned Woven Surface Flooring, Oceanair Wood Plantation Shutters, hand-crafted laminate cabinets and drawers with premium closers, themed wooden louver doors on cabinets and closet doors, stitched leather cabinet pulls, embossed wood like wall surfaces, pinstriped awnings, Egyptian Cotton bed linens, plush towels and throw pillows, etched glass cabinet doors and etched signature glassware, Kohler faucets, custom LED lit door entry handle and more.

The Perfect Campsite Experience
So how did we begin a perfect Tommy Bahama campsite experience at each stop? The process is pretty straight forward actually.
After setting the trailer on the site properly balanced and secured, make all of the power, cable and water connections, start the roof-mounted 13,000 BTU AC unit and set the desired temperature.
Next, extend the powered Emerald Green Pinstripe Sunbrella Awning with dimmable LED lighting. If sunny and hot outside, extend the custom Bahama-themed Solar Screen at the front plus the manual pinstripe awnings on the side and rear to keep the sun off the windows.
Place the Bahama palm-leaf pattern outdoor rug at the door, set the chairs and cooler chest (serves nicely as a table) in the shade of the awning and you are almost ready to party.

Set a desired mood by turning on the Polk Satellite Radio Surround Audio and connect to your remote Bluetooth speakers. Step into the trailer and get a pair of the ‘Bahama’ leaded glass tumblers and pull a bottle of your favorite premium adult beverage from the backlit glass-front bar rack. Get ice from the portable ice maker on the counter and open the refrigerator to select appropriate garnishes.
Mix as you like, return to your Bahama chair and enjoy.

Interior
On the inside, the perfect Tommy Bahama begins with the laser-etched ‘Bahama’ themed screen door that opens to the combination galley, dinette and lounge area.
At the left of the door is a back-lit glass door wine and bottle cabinet stocked with Tommy Bahama leaded glass tumblers. Just above is a cabinet with a portable ice maker and next to it is an efficient four-cubic foot ‘two-way’ (LPG/electric) refrigerator with freezer.

Galley
Across the way is the galley with a premium 3-Burner LP Gas Cooktop with glass cover and a gas oven below. A Baraldi Cooking Vent with LED Light sits just below topped by a set of inside-lit storage lockers with themed sliding glass doors.
The galley top is LG Hi-Macs Solid Surface with sink cover over a Stainless-Steel Sink served by a Kohler pull-down faucet. Just to the right is additional wine storage.

Entertainment
The Samsung LED HD TV – mounted in the bedroom area – swings around for viewing from the dinette and lounge. A Smart Blu Ray Player supplements internet, antenna and satellite options. Premium sounds are available using the factory tuned Polk Audio Surround Sound four-speaker (plus sub-woofer) Stereo XM/FM/AM Satellite Radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Add a Bluetooth portable speaker under the awning outside and you have music on the campsite.
Hint: This unit is powerful, you may have to tone it down a bit.

Bath
The bath area is compact yet efficient. The lavatory features sink with Kohler faucet, mirrors, storage, towel bars and LED dimmable lighting. A dry toilet area has a porcelain fixture and adjoins the full-height shower with step-in lip, shower screen, seat and portable hand-held Kohler shower head. The space is very adequate, well-lit and fan-vented.
Just to the right of the lavatory space is the hanging closet with shelf at the top, LED light and wooden louvered door. You can fit whatever needs to be hung on a week-long adventure easily in this space

Dinette and Lounge
The dinette area (seats four) features panoramic front windows, custom laminate fold-down top, Ultraleather seating surfaces and Pin Striped cushions. The pair of overhead storage cabinets above feature LED interior lighting and louvered wooden lift-up doors. The dinette converts to additional sleeping space for two with large storage beneath and LED reading lights overhead.

Bedroom
The designated bedroom space at the rear serves two in a near queen-size setup. It features a very comfortable Pillow Top Memory Foam Mattress, under bed storage compartment, inside-lit storage with wooden louvre lift-up doors above the bed , dimmable LED lighting and LED reading lights.
Bed is very comfortable and has a side window that can be opened for fresh air plus a large rear window for comfortable star-gazing at night.
The Samsung LED HD TV is located on the wall at the foot of the bed and a blackout curtain provides privacy from the rest of the trailer
