Ram – currently launching its 2019 line up of consumer-oriented Ram 1500 pickups – is also launching its 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman work truck. Aimed at one of the largest traditional pickup customer categories — vocational use — the new Ram 1500 Tradesman is specifically designed for small businessmen, construction jobsites and commercial fleets, says Ram.

“Ram launched the original Tradesman model in 2011, and our work truck customers have enjoyed Ram’s benchmark durability ever since,” said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand. “Ram has the highest owner loyalty of any half-ton truck and the Ram 1500 Tradesman model will continue to deliver confidence for hard-working people who rely on it every day.”

Ready to order now, the 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman is available in two cab styles and two bed lengths: a Quad Cab with 6 ft., 4 in. bed or a Crew Cab short bed (5 ft., 7 in.) and a Crew Cab with optional 6 ft., 4 in. bed.

Available in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, the Ram 1500 Tradesman powertrain offerings include the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 with the all-new eTorque mild hybrid system, an optional 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 or the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with eTorque

Depending on equipment selected, a 2019 Tradesman can tow up to 12,750 pounds and offer up to 2,300 pounds of payload in the four-door quad cab configuration. The Tradesman comes standard with a Class III trailer hitch and lighted, above-bumper four- and seven-pin trailer wire connectors.

All of the 2019 Ram 1500 lineup (including Tradesman) features the segment-exclusive multi-link rear coil suspension that – Ram says – provides best-in-class ride and handling qualities. A coil-spring setup centralizes and absorbs bumps and impacts, while reducing the amount of friction in the spring system.

Because braking is important, particularly for a working truck under load, the Tradesman (along with all 2019 Ram 1500 models) is equipped with the largest front brakes in the segment at 14.9 inches.

Ram Telematics Solutions

Ram is also offering their Ram Telematics Technology as a factory-installed option for business customers on the new 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman along with other Ram commercial vehicles.

Ram Telematics is a commercial fleet vehicle connectivity platform designed to provide fleet owners and managers with a broad range of vehicle data, diagnostics and driver behavior information to help them better understand how their vehicles are being used and improve operational efficiency.

Telematics-enabled vehicles, according to Ram, offer substantial returns on investment, including increased productivity, improved vehicle utilization, reduced fuel expenses, lower idle times, reduced miles driven, lower employee overtime and improved fleet safety by identifying at-risk driving. Additionally, the Ram Telematics Technology is scalable to fleets of all sizes.

The Ram Telematics service is offered in conjunction with Verizon Connect, a leading global telematics service provider.  Factory-installed, Telematics are ready for activation the day the customer takes their new-vehicle delivery. One year of Ram Telematics service starts at $800.

The Ram Telematics system is covered under a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and is serviceable at Ram dealerships nationwide. Ram Telematics also can be conveniently financed with the new vehicle purchase.

Later this year, Ram commercial trucks already in service (2015 and later) can have the Ram Telematics 4G product installed through dealers.  This includes Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and Ram Chassis Cabs.

Ram Telematics will be available for Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City late in 2018.
