Ram reveals all-new 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks at Detroit Auto Show
Already pretty much trampling the competition in the full-size truck segment for 2019, Ram has just revealed their new 2019 Ram Heavy Duty trucks – locked and loaded to blow through that segment as well.
Pulling the wraps off the new 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks at the Detroit International Auto Show in Detroit, Ram says the new Heavy Duty out-powers, out-tows and out-hauls every other pickup in the segment.
Further, they do it with segment-best comfort and style, ride and handling, luxury, innovative features, technology and safety – raising the bar several steps above the competition.
That is a whole lot of bragging yet to be proven. But given their success in delivering the segment best 2019 Ram 1500 full-size truck this past year, we think they have a high certainty of delivering on the new Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks as well.

Powertrains and Performance
According to the information provided, the new Ram Heavy Duty trucks boast segment high capability numbers for diesel- and gas-powered pickups — 35,100-lbs. towing and 7,680-lb. payload.
The engine lineup is led by an available new Cummins 6.7-liter I6 high output Turbo Diesel that delivers up-to a whopping 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,800 rpm from 400 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm. The high output Turbo Diesel is mated to an enhanced Aisin AS69RC electronically-controlled 6-speed automatic transmission. It features a new controller and dual-core processor for faster and more precise shifts under all loads.
Also available is a lesser variant of the Cummins Turbo Diesel that delivers 370 horsepower @ 2,800 rpm and 850 lb.-ft. of torque @ 1,700 rpm. This ‘lesser’ Turbo Diesel is mated to an upgraded version of the 68RFE 6-speed automatic transmission for improved shift quality.

The 6.4-liter HEMI gasoline V8 is the standard engine for the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty. It delivers class-leading 410 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm with 429 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4,000 rpm. Featuring cylinder deactivation and Variable Cam Timing (VCT), it is mated to a class-exclusive TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic.
Rams equipped with the 6.4-liter HEMI use a rotary shifter mounted on the left side of the center stack – freeing up space on the console. The new shifter area is located adjacent to related feature buttons and dials like Hill Descent Control, axle lock and transfer case controls for driver convenience.

The new Ram Heavy Duty features bold interlocking exterior design elements, new and lighter aluminum hood, all-new wheels and bumpers plus six different grille designs (the crosshairs are gone) across six distinct price classes.
Three new headlight designs include advanced LED with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) and the available RamBox Cargo Management System features a 115-volt outlet with up to 400-watts of power.

Safety and Convenience
